Accepted!

Jake received notice today that he's been accepted to SF State to pursue his Bachelors degree. His major is Psychology, but unfortunately that major is "impacted" - meaning there are more applicants than allowed slots for students. So until further notice, Jake has been wait-listed for the Psych Department.

When he found out he had been wait-listed, he was really bummed, and understandably so. He loves Psychology and the workings of the mind. He's been working so hard and has a GPA of 3.9 when he graduates from Diablo Valley College next month. I'm so proud of him. Anyways, I digress.

He was seriously considering not going to SF State because he REALLY wants to major in Psych and since he'd wait-listed, he is not allowed to take any classes in Psych to further his education (yup, that's messed up). So we talked long and hard about it and I had mentioned that he had said he wanted his minor to be in Business, so maybe he could major in that until Psych opens up. Nope. Not happening. So then I remembered when we went to West Valley College together when we lived in San Jose, he really enjoyed the Sociology classes we took.

Today when he got the notice, I asked him what he wanted to do. He has decided to major in Sociology until a place in Psych opens up. He's only choosing Sociology as an alternate major in case his application is rejected for Psych for this semester. I thought it's a really good idea and in my mind, studying Sociology could really boost his success for Psychology because Sociology is the study of the development of human society, and social behavior. To me, that could be a stepping stone for Psych since Psychology is the study of mental processes and behavior.

I'm so proud of him. He's worked so hard. Onto graduation next month! :)
