Day 14

It's Day 14 of no fast food. I was really tempted today, but I decided to go with a thai chicken salad for lunch.

I need to get over this addiction to fast food.

Haiti

I know there's been a lot of press about the earthquake in Haiti and promotion for donations to the battered nation. Jake and I have donated some money to the Red Cross. Even though the amount we donated doesn't seem like enough, we hope our donation will make some difference to better the life of a person.

We've all seen pictures of crumbled buildings, people with tears of fear and sorrow streaming down their faces, and even the bodies/body parts of children caught in the rubble...dead.

Today I saw a video though, a video that shows there are still people out there who can be found alive. This is a video of Kiki, a 7-year old boy who was pulled from the rubble in recent days along with his older sister Sabrina. His gesture and the look on his face when he realizes what's going on is priceless. This is what the people of Haiti are fighting for...

Weekly video 1/22/10

This weekly video is in honor of one of my co-workers. He's a fan of all things interesting and this video is pretty darn popular in the office. It's basically what someone in another country understands about English-speaking songs. It's gibberish. Watch the subtitles, they're hilarious!

Enjoy!

Weekly video 1/15/10

This week's video is one from this week's American Idol. Now, I don't watch this show, but my sister-in-law does. She said I HAD to see this and it's pretty funny. It's got a good beat.

Enjoy!

See the new ticker?

I decided measuring the time by a ticker who has no clue of the circumstances of trying for a baby when you have PCOS was stupid. So, I changed it to a happier ticker.

I can't believe it's been that long since Jake and I tied the knot! On March 16th, Jake and I will be together as a couple of 5 solid years. I've heard of people being together for that long, but never imagined when it would be our turn.

I also turned 26 last Tuesday. I'm now in my "late 20's" which I don't mind. I know the thought of turning 30 will freak me out at some point, but I think Jake did enough freaking out when he turned 30 back in August for the both of us. I'm not too worried about it.

Jake also has been notified that he has received straight A's for this past semester and his transcripts were given to SF State. We will hear within a month if Jake has been accepted. He will walk for graduation with his AA in Psychology in May.

The new house is good. We're getting more and more comfortable with it every day. I sleep so hard in that house and the kitties are pretty darn comfortable too. We did have a small incident with Neebs while we were packing up. We had two cat carriers. One was small enough to carry one cat. The other was big enough to carry two. We decided to put Chloe in the one small carrier and Neebs and MJ in the bigger one. Since Neebs was the one who wasn't hiding, he was easier to grab and put in the carrier. So we did and thought the door was secure. We're trying to get Chloe out from her corner she was hiding and hear this "BANG!". I see the cat carrier door open and Neebs coming out with this shocked look on his face. So I calmly walk up to him and put him back in his carrier. When we finally got MJ in the bigger carrier and I check all three to see how they're holding up. I noticed there's a little blood on Neebs' nose. I guess what had happened was when he sprang loose from the carrier, the locking bars on the door, which were spring latched, sprang up and scraped a full layer of skin off half of his nose. So Jake and I wet a paper towel, wiped his nose and watched him for the rest of the day to make sure it wasn't bothering him. He was pretty oblivious to it for the most part. Now, it's all scabbed up and healing great. He's still our "lovey Bub" and is as talkative and social as he always has been. I didn't take a picture of his "battle wound" because I didn't want to gross anyone out. But Neebs is fine, thank goodness.

It's done!

We're officially moved in as of yesterday. When all the furniture and stuff is put away, I will post pictures. I promise.

Weekly video 1/8/10

Happy New Year! OK, so I know New Years was last week and Christmas was the week before, hence why there was no weekly video. My apologies to those who look forward to my attempts to keep you few readers entertained.

This week's video is a tribute to 2009's hottest pop hits. It was remixed together by a DJ I've never heard of, but he did a good job and I hope you all enjoy it. Happy 2010!

Enjoy!

2:30am...and I'm up

Last night Jake and I were up until 2:30am with my hacking away with a horrible cough. I've been sick, with a head cold. I'm fine otherwise, but the congestion is getting to be more than I can bear. I think it's progressed into Bronchitis, and I don't know what to do.

For a while, and as my parents lovingly point out every time I get sick, I cough hard. I always get the deep chest, vibrated, barking cough. It's the kind that make people either cringe to hear, or they look at me with such pity that I almost feel sorry for myself if the feeling of the chest pain from the actual coughing wasn't getting in the way.

So, last night...about that...

So Jake wanted to go to a 24-hour pharmacy. The closest ones were in either Hercules (10 miles away) or Berkeley (about 5-10 miles away). Normally I wouldn't have objected to it but I'm not a fan of Richmond late at night. So going there at 2am was out of the question. So, we looked up home remedies that could hold me over until the morning. So, we found this nasty concoction that surprisingly works. It's 6 oz hot water (not boiling) with 1 oz apple cider vinegar with a touch of maple syrup for sweetening.

I got a total of 4.5 hours sleep. I'm so tired.
